meet the DESIGNER:
RAUL V. BRAVO was born in cordoba argentina in 1938. by 1963 he had loaded up his family and moved to the USA on an engineering scholarship. in 1965 bravo moved to detroit michigan and began working as an industrial desigNer at ford motor company. it was shortly after, in 1968, that he began to formulate the idea of a fun, easy to build vehicle - a dune buggy. after detAiled engineering drawings and a 1/4 scale clay model, the bandido’s mold construction was soon underway in his suburban garage. A full size clay model was created and laying fiberglass for the molds followed. by 1969 production fiberglass body kits were being produced. bravo, and a local vw dealership, sold close to 400 bandido kits through the early 70’s. Bravo went on to careers at chrysler, amtrak and then his own rail engineering business. bravo is now retired and enjoying working with his oldest son to bring the bandido buggy back for the enjoyment of anyone who loves FOUR-wheeled fun.
